We have exciting highlights from the ASEAN Chairman Handover Ceremony, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand, on January 27th. This pivotal event marked a significant milestone for the ASEAN Furniture Industries Council (AFIC) as the Chairmanship was passed from Singapore to Thailand, with delegates from all 8 AFIC member countries in attendance.
The ceremony commenced with an inspiring speech from Mr. Mark Young, who expressed gratitude for his two years of leadership at AFIC. His tenure was marked by numerous achievements and advancements in the ASEAN furniture industry.
Following Mr. Young’s speech, Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, President of The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), shared his appreciation for Thailand’s opportunity to lead AFIC. He emphasized the country’s commitment to driving growth and innovation in the region.
Next, Mr. Tanatat Chawaldit, President of the Thai Furniture Industry Club (TFIC), provided an update on the latest trends and developments in Thailand’s furniture industry, highlighting the country’s strategic initiatives and market performance.
The highlight of the event was the handover ceremony, where outgoing Chairman Mr. Mark Young passed the AFIC Cup to the new Chairman, Mr. Dhanakorn Kasetrsuwan. The ceremony was witnessed by senior leaders, esteemed members, and guests from FTI and TFIC, symbolizing a seamless transition of leadership.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Dhanakorn Kasetrsuwan shared his vision and plans for AFIC over the next two years. He introduced a comprehensive work plan focused on six key areas:
- Digitalisation
- Sustainability & Innovation in Business
- Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy
- Design and Collaboration
- Leadership and Tradition
- Global Commitment
This ambitious proposal received unanimous support from all AFIC Country Members, reflecting a collective commitment to progress and excellence.
The ceremony concluded with an unforgettable river dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River. Delegates had the opportunity to strengthen existing friendships and forge new ones, creating a sense of unity and camaraderie that will drive AFIC forward.
